Jyotish Notes for iOS and Android · Updated October 6, 2026

The short version: write to support@jyotishnotes.com and a person will read it. If something looks wrong in a chart, tell us what you expected to see and what the app showed instead — that one sentence saves a round of questions. If you are looking for how a screen works rather than reporting a problem, How to use is likely to be faster than we are.

Where to write

Either address reaches the same person. Jyotish Notes is built and maintained independently by one developer, so replies usually take a few days rather than a few hours — but every message is read, and we would rather hear about a problem than not.

What to include

None of this is required — write however you like. But a reply is far more useful when it can start from the same screen you were on:

One request in the other direction: the app keeps your charts on your device and never sends them to us, so anything you put in an email is the only thing we ever see. Please do not send another person's birth details without their agreement, and send no more than the question needs.

Before you write — the frequent ones

My charts and notes are gone, or did not arrive on a new phone

Everything you enter is stored on your device, and nowhere else unless you turn on sync. There is no account and no copy on our side, which is a deliberate privacy choice described in our Privacy Policy.

With sync on, your library is kept in your own cloud, and a new device fills itself from there: on Android 1.5 through your Google Drive (Google Drive sync), and on iPhone and iPad from iOS 1.5 through your iCloud (iCloud sync). Install the app, use the same account, and switch sync on.

Without sync, the consequence is real and worth knowing before you need it: if the app is deleted, or a device is lost or reset without a backup, we cannot recover your data — we never had it. A device backup is then what carries your charts to a new phone. We are sorry to be unhelpful here, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a recovery that does not exist.

The app says “Library is full”

The app supports up to 1,000 charts, and 1,500 notes a year for each chart. Delete a chart to save another.

A date or pañcāṅga reading looks a day off

Check the Default City on the Settings tab first. The Vedic day runs sunrise to sunrise, so which day a reading falls on depends on where it is being read for — and that city also sets the time zone for every date the app displays. Setting it to where you actually are resolves most of these.

A position or period does not match the software I usually use

Two settings account for most differences before anything is actually wrong: the ayanāṁśa you have selected, and the fact that schools of Jyotiṣa genuinely disagree on method. Where the app implements a particular authority's approach it names that authority on screen, so a daśā labelled with one author's name will not agree with another's — that is the two methods differing, not a defect. If those both check out and the numbers still disagree, please do write; send the birth details you used and the value you expected, and we will look at it properly.

Subscriptions, cancelling, and refunds

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us — we never see or hold your payment details. Cancel or change one at any time: on iPhone and iPad, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the period you have paid for running to its end. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policies — we have no ability to issue or reverse an App Store or Google Play charge, so a refund request has to go to Apple or Google rather than to us. The full billing terms are in our Terms of Use. If a purchase is not unlocking what it should, that part is ours — write to us.

Which languages does the app read in?

English, Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati. The app follows your device language where one of those is set. If you find text that has stayed in English inside another language, that is a gap rather than a decision — please report it and name the screen.

Is anything I enter sent anywhere?

Not to us, ever. Positions, city lookups, and every calculation run entirely on your device, and there is no account to create. If you turn on sync, your library goes to your own Google Drive or iCloud, and to your other devices — never through us. Our Privacy Policy sets this out in full.

Requests and reports we welcome

A calculation you can show to be wrong, a layout that breaks at your text size, a translation that reads oddly to a native speaker, a classical method you think is being applied incorrectly — these are the most useful mail we get, and several of them have changed the app. Feature requests are read and kept, though a small project cannot promise any particular one.

The rest of the paperwork

Our Privacy Policy covers what the app stores and what it does not collect. Our Terms of Use cover subscriptions, what the app is for, and what it does not claim to do. Jyotish Notes is a study and reference tool — it computes the classical positions and periods and shows them in motion, and it does not predict, advise, or interpret on your behalf.
